ANZCO Foods Heat Recovery

ANZCO Foods

Heat Recovery

$400,000 Annual Savings & 10 GWh Per Annum Energy Savings

Problem

A major opportunity identified across the ANZCO group through the groupwide programme, was the potential for heat recovery – ANZCO consume a LOT of hot water for sterilising, cleaning and general plant operation and reject a LOT of heat through their refrigeration system. Almost a perfect match!

Solution

ANZCO worked with DETA Consulting to scope what needed to be done, and at which sites. Five projects have been implemented to date across the group, recovering heat from the refrigeration system

Outcome

10 GWh/annum saved. Equivalent to $400k/yr (or the energy required to boil 44 Olympic-sized swimming pools) at a payback of 2.5 years.
