Fonterra Hautapu Water Reduction

Fonterra - Hautapu

Water Reduction

Water Consumption Reduced by More Than 1,400 m3/d

Problem

Fonterra is targeting substantial water reductions across their manufacturing sites.

Solution

At the Hautapu site DETA investigated a range of projects to improve water use and reuse efficiency in the existing potable water, demineralised water, RO permeate reuse water and recovered water systems. Upgrading these systems will provide significant process and operational benefits for the site.

Outcome

DETA identified opportunities to reduce water consumption by more than 1,400 m3/d, developed concept designs and produced cost estimates for capital approval.
