The George Hotel

Hot Water Heat Pump

46% Reduction in Hot Water Generation Cost

Problem

Due to its age, the George’s hot water supply system was due for replacement. DETA Consulting had identified in a previous energy audit that a hot water heat pump could be a more cost effective option to operate at site, however they needed to quantify the potential savings and how the heat pump would operate.

Solution

DETA Consulting identified the most feasible option for use at site, and prepared a business case for the George to approve. DETA Consulting then worked through a third party contractor to install the heat pump system, complete with gas backup for electrical load shedding.

Outcome

The heat pump reduces the George’s hot water generation cost by $35,000 – a 46% reduction in cost. In addition, the George now has a long term solution for their domestic hot water supply and no worries about extra maintenance for many years.
