Industrial Process Waste Reduction

90% Industrial Process Waste Reduction Equivalent to 5 Tonnes Per Year of Industrial Process Waste

Problem

Like most engine shops, Christchurch Engine Centre works with some strong chemicals and produces a significant amount of industrial process waste. With a strong corporate push to reduce untreated waste, Christchurch Engine Centre approached DETA Consulting to identify a means of reducing a chromium rich liquid waste stream from site.

Solution

After confirming that there was no local party capable of recycling the waste stream from site, DETA Consulting identified a technical solution using specialised filtration and ion exchange mechanisms. This treated the waste stream and allowed the remaining liquid waste to be put down the drain. This was an off the shelf solution with some small tweaks, and was locally serviced.

Outcome

Reduced industrial process waste by 90%. Achieved future corporate waste reduction targets.
