Problem

ANZCO were having issues with the reliability and operability of their hot water generation system, and they wanted to deliver hot water at a much lower cost.

Solution

DETA developed the mechanical design and project managed a $3.5M hot water upgrade at the ANZCO Canterbury facility. Key aspects of the work undertaken included:

  • Concept and detailed mechanical design including hot water tank sizing, steam and hot water pipework design, heat exchanger sizing and ventilation and preparation of detailed design specifications and drawings
  • Risk analysis and health and safety management
  • Successful liaison and coordination with civil and electrical consultants and contractors
  • Mechanical equipment selection and specification
  • Contractor liaison and selection
  • Procurement management for all aspects of the project
  • Project management and supervision of installation and commissioning
  • Post-implementation review of project

Outcome

This project, was delivered on time and on budget, over-delivering the target savings, whilst recording no LTI’s or recordable incidents. ANZCO Foods has since implemented a number of other, similar projects at facilities throughout the Group utilising DETA’s expertise.
