Hot Water System Upgrade

26% Reduction in Thermal Energy Costs With a 1.5 Year Payback on Investment

Problem

DETA undertook a level 2 energy audit at Alliance's Levin site. Through the audit, we identified that the site was consuming twice as much steriliser water as was required.

Solution

We developed a project, using Alliance's capex process, to both reduce the flow of the sterilisers and improve the heat recovery system at site. As part of this, we also included flow metering so that the hot water consumption could be managed and monitored.

Outcome

Thanks to the short payback, we also included upgrades to the hot water system, such as lining a hot water tank, to make the system more robust and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
