Problem

Following an energy audit conducted by DETA in 2016, Whakatane Mill was aware they were consuming too much energy but didn’t have the resources to take the opportunities further.

Solution

DETA became the utility optimisation partner and completed a variety of pump, compressed air and process-based audits, providing the site with some quick wins which were then implemented by a fully supported graduate supplied by DETA.

Outcome

Total annual energy savings of 36 GWh/year were achieved.
